Shropshire-based HWR Transport, the pre-pack succes-sor to Pendragon Haulage, has entered voluntary liquidation with a total deficiency of £250,673.

The Palletforce member appointed David Bottomley, of Bottomley & Co, as its liquidator on 28 June.

The company had ceased trading on 7 June and all 16 employees were made redundant. It had been running about 20 trucks.

It owed £71,234 in PAYE and NI contributions to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), as well as outstanding VAT payments of £59,841.

Bottomley tells MT the company had recently began to see an increase in turnover via a marketing push from Palletforce, but admits: "The company was still making a loss and could not afford or make the deadline to pay the HMRC bills for which it was being pursued. HWR Transport could see no other way out."
